Natalie Call – Sixth Grade

Hi there   I’m new to Ivy Hall Academy this year and I couldn’t be happier to be here.  After twenty-one years as a teacher and eleven as a principal in the public school system, with my small class I feel like I’ve died and gone to heaven!!

I grew up in Ogden, Utah and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Weber State University.  I conquered the four -year program in two and even received the Student of the Year Award from the School of Education.  I later received my Master’s Degree in Education Administration from the University of Utah and had a chance to run the State Mock Election and work with Governor Scott Matheson during my years at the U. I have held and Education License concurrently since 1980.

I was a teacher in elementary schools in Weber County School District, Laramie County #1 School District, Jordan School District and Sevier District before being appointed the principal of Sage Creek Elementary in Nebo School District. While serving in Nebo School District I also worked closely with Vital Smarts and became a certified trainer in the concept of Crucial Confrontations.  Early in my career I was named Young Careerists for the state of Utah by the Business and Professional Women’s Association of Utah .  Most recently I was honored by Nebo District as the Distinguished Principal of the Year, Literary Principal/school of the year and Human Resource Principal of the Year.

The short of it is that I love working with kids.  I feel there is no greater responsibility in the world than helping to shape the minds of future leaders.  My favorite quote (author unknown)  is “Education is a relationship, not a procedure”.  I believe with when students know that you truly care about them and have their best interests at heart they will work harder and learn more.

I am so excited to work with not only my four students, but all the students of Ivy Hall Academy.
